Can't wait to try this yarn....

I found out that the local Walmart has the Lion Brand Mandala yarn (which only 500 nationwide have it, and Lion Brand is out of it completely until Sept.) and just had to get some. They had about five or so different colors of the yarn. I ended up getting two balls of each color, they are only around $5 at the store but on Walmarts website it was $10 (I think they have run out of them online). I also got a bright green and blue yarn by Peaches and Creme called ocean stripes. Normally, I get the big cones of cotton yarn (Lil Sugar 'N Cream, I think they merged with the Peaches and Creme company) for around $15, but Walmart had them for $8.

So I plan on making quite a few dishcloths, and haven't decided either scarves or more granny stripe afghan's. The Bernat baby yarn will be for another granny stripe afghan that I hope to make to sell.

An Afghan Finish

I finally completed the Granny Stripe baby afghan I was making to send to my cousin. It turned out much different than the baby boy granny stripe afghan I did, since there were so many different colors in this one.

I started on another granny stripe afghan already, the colors are various purples with green. The yarn is by Michael's called Loops and Thread and even though the weight is only 4 worsted weight it feels very bulky and more like a 5 or 6. It is 100% acrylic but unlike other brands that are a little soft, this one isn't at all. I do not think I will work with this yarn again, but am hoping after I complete the project it will soften up somewhat. It is wider than our queen size bed, so it will be quite a big afghan.

Birthday Gift and Afghan Progress..

I enjoy making people gifts for their birthday.  I really liked the color of this yarn, but it looked like it would appeal more to men than most women, so I end up making a wash/dish cloth for my dad. I thought perhaps he could use it while he works out, or does some yard work.

I worked more on the granny stripe afghan, even more tonight, but here is an updated version from Sunday. I included a few close ups.

More Work Needed....

to complete these projects of various crafts I have been working on.

I will start with the projects I have had for the longest.

I have picked up the hand quilting for Mr. Crafts4Others quilt. I have found one or two thimbles that I really like and at the same time been testing various types of quilting hoops/stands. I was quilting away on Monday while listening to the Senate.

I am a few days behind on knitting the 2017 Temperature Afghan, but this progress goes to the 3rd of Feb. I will get to add yellow again once I get caught up as yesterday it was 74!

I haven't crocheted on this baby afghan until the 2nd of Feb., but I got a little bit more complete.

The newest project was put in by request by Mr. Crafts4others it is knited in the garter stitch to keep the keyboard of his computer from sliding on his desk.

or so depending how much I am able to get done. I think the progress so far has went really good. I know my cousin really liked the colors of the yarn. I haven't ever thought a baby blanket should be just big enough for a few months, after all the child will grow quickly, so I try to make them more toddler size. In case anyway wanted to know this yarn si by Lion Brand and called Ice Cream Big Scoop.

Granny Stripe Blanket Complete

I actually finished this baby blanket on the 23rd. I love how it turned out and it only took me about two weeks, sometimes not working on it that much. I was pretty sure my friend was having a girl but just in case had bought the baby boy yarn. Good thing I did that as of course it turns out I was mistaken. I was unsure what I was going to do with the girl yarn since I didn't know anyone else expecting soon, but found out that a cousin of mine and his spouse are adopting a girl. I have started another granny stripe blanket already. I really love this pattern and it is so easy, it would be great gifts  for a scarf, shawl or blanket.

I only have a few rows done for the new project but I am liking it so far.

A Little Bit More Complete

on the baby granny stripe blanket I am making for my friend. I think that I am almost halfway there, not sure how long I will have it be, but want to ensure he can grow into it for awhile at least. Have you ever tried the granny blanket, whether in the round or stripe? I know this pattern is dated but just love it, and plus I like vintage items and some clothing.

Granny Stripe Baby Blanket

I have never been to good at crochet as I always had a hard time getting the edges even, but have always love the granny afghan. I have seen several people do a granny strip afghan for temperature blankets, so I decided to be adventurous and try my hand at crochet again. I am glad I did and am loving how quick and easy this is going so far. It will be a gift to a friend of mine who is having a baby boy. I only started working on it Friday and this is my progress until Saturday night. I think next year this pattern will be my temperature blanket.
