Learning a new stitch...

I have recently learned how to create the Chinese Wave (I think otherwise known as honeycomb) stitch. I am really liking the design so far, and can't wait to see what it looks like once the dischloth is completed. I am wondering if this pattern would be a little too dense for an afghan, and if I should just use it for perhaps dishcloths. I plan on making a few more before I end up reopening my Etsy store. So far I have one dishcloth done in garter stitch.

This is the front of the Chinese Wave
 And then the back

The yellow in reality looks more like gold, and I plan on selling this dishcloth. I hope to have my shop reopened by the end of this month if not before. I just want to ensure that I have a few projects complete before doing that. I plan on having dishcloths, scarves, afghans and perhaps other items as well.

Learning the Purl Stitch....

I only started learning how to knit back in September, mostly getting inspiration from SlowTV and other youtube knitting shows. I have made several washcloths/dishcloths, a scarf, and working on two blankets. I have only worked on the knit and garter stitch. I decided finally to learn how to do the purl stitch, and it does feel a little awkward but I think only because it is new. Here is my first attempt so far.

I love the colors of the mustard and grey, never figured I would though. This is just a practice piece though and isn't anything to use. This yarn though is 100% cotton so it will no doubt be another washcloth/dishcloth. I am making a few to be donated to a Native American reservation, so far I have made 5 or so, this yarn will probably be the last one to be made before sending them. I love to make the washcloth/dishcloth and might end up selling some in the future. Do you have a favorite knitting project you enjoy?

Knitted Dishcloths/Washcloths

These are some small projects that I have done while at the doctor's office and watching tv. Since I don't need as much yarn compared to working on a scarf, so it easily fits into my purse or small container to take along. Obviously, the dishcloths/washcloths aren't this big, but I wanted to show the varied and vibrant colors.

First Knitting Projects

I completed watching the SlowTV knitting series on Netflix and have since completed two knitting projects. I knitted along while watching the series.  The first project I completed was a washcloth.

The second item I made was a dishcloth, I like them a little bigger than probably normal, enough so it is slightly bigger than my hand.

My most recent project I have started on is a scarf for my husband's upcoming birthday. I have been knitting so far for about two weeks and think I am making good progress. This stitch, the garter stitch, is the most basic of all the different types of stitches. After I make the scarf I plan on learning the purl stitch, and gradually add more as I feel that I accomplished the previous one.
