Homemade Pizza

I love to make pizza but still had a few issues with recipes that I saw. I ended up really liking one from Taste of Home, and I didn't use the toppings they did. I think from now on when I make a pizza it will be with this crust. My apologies if this post makes you hungry, I had thought of scheduling this to be later in the day, but then thought at least if it is early then you can get the ingredients later in time for dinner.

Pizza taste test...

Normally, I make my own pizza dough, just because it is usually cheaper and tastes better. However, the last few times the crust hasn't been light, so I saw a brand new fridge pizza dough at the grocery store and decided to try it out. The company Wewalka had two different versions, a family style and then a bistro one. I got the family style which at my grocer's was $3. I made a pepporini and added some fresh basil from the garden. We thought the crust was pretty good, however I did cook it a little bit longer than the directions. I think I added too much sauce and cheese, so just be careful depending on your oven or when it gets close to the time per the instructions.

The Battle of Pizza Sauces!

I made my first homemade Stromboli the other day, it is like a calzone for those that do not know, but no sauce is put inside it. Normally I make my own homemade pizza sauce but I wasn't in the mood to do that, as there is a lot of leftovers of the sauce.  So, they only had two different brands of pizza sauce at the store, and not knowing which one was better, I figured I would just get a jar of each. We could have our own little taste test. A battle of the sauces!

Normally, I prefer Classico pasta sauce over prego (although I think both are better than Ragu). So I was surprised that we both preferred the Prego pizza sauce over the Classico version. The Classico actually had way too much herbs, so much that I couldn't taste that much of the tomatos. The Stromboli dough that I made was really easy and didn't take too long. I put pepporini, salami, provolone cheese, dried oregano and dried basil in it. We ate half of the Stromboli the first night and had the leftovers yesterday.

Homemade Pizza!

I made some homemade pizza, which I have never made my own dough before. I think it came out pretty good, there are just a few things that I would change, such as adding more sauce and toppings.
