EPP Project and Pillowcase Complete

A couple of weeks ago I finally completed hand piecing and hand quilting the EPP (English Paper Piecing) project I had been working on. I ended up giving this to one of my Grandmothers who is ill. I put her initials on the table runner. It is now on her nightstand by her bed.

A few years ago I had made these flying geese blocks and then I saw this cardinal fabric, and knowing my grandmother loves birds thought it would be perfect for a pillowcase to brighten her room. My mother sewed the pillow case together.

Starting on design...

finally of my June 12for2012 project that I am working on for my sister. This is what I was able to accomplish over the past IHSW weekend. I am so excited that I am finally working on the actual design instead of just the wording and border.

Still more to go...

on my june 12 for 2012 project, as I mentioned in my last post I won't be getting this done by the closing ceremony of the Olympics tonight. At least with this cross stitch project there is quite a bit of sections with just one color, so I hope to get alot done this coming week. Here is my progress since Friday, sorry the photo isn't too great;

The Olympics Are Almost Over...

for some reason I was thinking there was quite a few more days left. I haven't worked on my project for all week, so I do not think I will be able to meet my goal of finishing the cross stitch project by Sunday. Here is the latest, in the mean time I better get busy.

Progress on June 12 for 2012 Project

I had previously started on this project, and worked on it today while we were watching Harry Potter series. We got all the way through from the first until the 5th movie tonight, tomorrow we hope to watch the rest of the series before the Olympic Opening Ceremonies begin. I was only on the grey part of the letter M earlier today, when I picked the project up to work on. Here is a picture of progress made. Since the pick was taken a few hours ago, I have gotten even more done.

March 12 for 2012 Complete!

Finally completed Tinkerbell today. I do not plan on doing the backstitches as normally I am not a fan. I hope my niece likes her birthday gift (it is belated, but I gave her other gifts before). So far for the 12 for 2012 projects that I will be completing I have finished the months of Jan., March, and April. The next project that I will be working on for my 12 for 2012 list is the month of June. It will be a belated birthday gift for my sister. After that I plan to go back and work on the months for Feb, May & July to get caught up.

Here is a final pic of Tinkerbell;

Today in our house we are having a Harry Potter marathon, so I will be working on this project quite a bit today. I have already worked on it a little bit before today. Currently I am still on the M for music with the grey color.

Slow but surely...

I am working on more progress, as my yet unknown, hexagon project. Could be a table runner or a quilt, who knows. I am just playing it by ear, I guess until I feel like no longer working on it. I love hexagons and the English Paper Piecing is addictive. Last night while at a quilt guild meeting, I put more pieces together.

Here is the progress of all of it together by rows, assuming I would put it together like this. I plan on waiting until I have made all of my rows though to put it all together, as I want to ensure I don't have to much of one color together.

While at the quilt guild people always give away items they no longer want. I was lucky enough to get this pattern by Bonnie Blue Quilts. I plan on checking out their other patterns, hopefully they have a shop online.

I haven't accomplished much for my 12 for 2012 goals, although on Friday I plan on working a lot on some projects while watching the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. So I should be posting some progress pics later on in the week.

Retreat....

I had a fantastic time at the retreat, it will definately be on the list for next year. I was not able to accomplish as many of my own projects I wanted to do, but was able to get a lot of the monthly block exchanges done. I hope to complete more of them tomorrow at a monthly quilting bee.  I was able to challenge myself and learned a few techniques that I had never done before. I will either make another video or post pics later.

I have yet to decide about the book giveaway, but will try to make a decision soon. Speaking of books, I recently borrowed the book The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda Brunstetter from the local library. It is really interesting so far and I am only on the third chapter. Basically, it is about a amish woman that put a ad in the local paper to teach quilting. The characters who will be her students range from a young women, to a couple, and even a male biker.

I still have Tinkerbell to finish for my niece before my deadline that I made of Wednesday.

As it is now the month of May, I need to start my project for 12for2012. It is a cute wall hanging, that will end up being a gift for one of my grandmothers.

Started a new project...

I made this video at around 1 am so was pretty tired. I can't seem to get motivated to finish Tinkerbell, even though I am so close to getting it completed. Perhaps this is because it isn't turning out like I had pictured in my mind. Anyways, after creating this video, I have since started another project, which I will show next week, at least this is one that needs to be completed for a challenge. I am part of a group of people who are trying to finish 12 projects for each month of the year, the challenge name is 12 for 2012.

WIP Tinkerbell

I have gotten quite a bit done on Tinkerbell today. Hopefully, I will be able to complete her by this Saturday, in order to met my goal of starting & finishing the kit in one month.
