What's on my Nightstand?

I finally decided to start participating in this to share the books that I have been reading every month.

I have been doing a lot of reading this month, although unfortunately it is not my type of reading, textbook reading isn't my idea of fun unless it includes history. But here are the books that I have enjoyed reading so far this month:

To Kill A Mockingbird-This is part of a read along that I joined, and am currently behind but will end up finishing the book later on this month. Only on chapter 5 so far, but enjoying it a lot better than when I was a kid trying to read it.

The Winnowing Season- I need to finish this book and due a review for my copy of the book. So far I am not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

Sunshine: I got this book in a swap, and did not know what book I was getting. I really enjoyed that and while I normally don't read books on vampires and such I really enjoyed this book. I only wish it was either longer or that there was a sequel.

  1. I too am reading To Kill A Mockingbird. I am on chapter 22, can't put it down! I read Emma last year for Austen in August. This year I plan to read Pride and Prejudice. I finished Sense and Sensibility in May. I think she has become my new most favorite author. Hope you have a great August!

    1. I need to get caught up in reading To Kill A Mockingbird in order to finish it for the read along. I think I will probably really like the book Emma, as I really enjoyed the miniseries made in 2010. I am looking forward to reading more of Austen's books in August. You have a great august too.

  2. I didn't read To Kill a Mockingbird until I was an adult, and I loved it. Not sure how I would have felt about it as a child... I loved Emma and Sense and Sensibility. Hope you enjoy them too. The Heart of Darkness--not so much.

    1. I am enjoying it but need to finish it before the end of this month. I think I will end up really enjoying the Austen books. The version of The Heart of Darkness I have includes a few short stories, and I haven't even gotten past the first one. So not sure how I will enjoy the actual book.

    1. Thanks, I think I will enjoy most of them, but think I may have to push myself to start/finish the Heart of Darkness. I read the first short story in the book and had a hard time with it.
